Located 1.1km from the hypocenter, this sword-leaf litsea stands in a backstreet of Nagasaki City's Aburagi-machi. Firmly rooted on a slope next to a Japanese chinquapin and ring-cup oak, the tree produces a large canopy.

The trunk shows the burnt scars of exposure to the atomic bombing and there is a hollow inside it, but a tree doctor has pronounced it "healthy." The tree is so vigorous that it is said to have reached the limit of the space available where it currently grows.
