The tree is in the collection of the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum
This tree was situated in a residence located 1.6km from the hypocenter, and was struck by heat rays and the ferocious blast wave. Nearly all of the other nearby houses were burned to the ground.
The tree was still live during the 2011 exhibition of bombed trees held by the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum, but was declared dead in the year 2018 and is now preserved as a bombed tree material by the Museum. (The tree is preserved in the storage rooms of the museum and is therefore not on exhibition.)
